Joel's journey began by combining his love of craft beer and deep customer service expertise to open and found FR Bottle Shop in Brandon. This first entrepreneurial endeavor allowed Joel to learn what makes a great beer menu - one that both educates and excites guests.

The successes of FR Bottle Shop soon led to Joel's next chapter - founding Fermented Reality Biergarten at Sparkman Wharf. During his time there, Joel cemented Fermented Reality as a go-to destination for beer lovers from near and far. Influenced for years by local tastemakers like Richard Boom (The Dirty Shame), Veronica Danko (Independent Cafe), and JB Ellis (Dunderbaks), Joel rotated 40 taps on the regular, featuring the best beers he could find. Carrying the best of the region is important to Joel, but more important is to carry the best beer from around the world.

Joel then set his sights on a new concept to call his own - a fresh take on a neighborhood bar reflecting his passons for craft beer, wine, service and creating community. This vision led Joel to sign on and begin buildout of Trellis at Buchman in the heart of historic Ybor City.

Now open, Trellis brings a taste of something new to Ybor's bar scene while respecting the roots and character of the neighborhood. The drinks menu carries forward what Joel is known for - a meticulously curated and rotating tap list with beers from Florida and beyond. But Trellis also brings a robust wine program for all tastes.

Soon, the drinks will be complemented by a food menu of elevated bar bites and shareables. Think favorites like flatbreads and unique sandwiches, with ingredients as vibrant as the space and neighborhood.
